Proctor Cup Bathurst – March 2017 SSFA WPL U17’s

Well what a weekend!  Although the girls did not come home as overall Proctor cup winners, they did not disappoint. 4/4 wins, undefeated, 8 goals scored no goal conceded, top of their pool. Unfortunately they were unlucky to go on and lose the semi 0-0 full time, 0-0 extra time and 4-3 penalty shoot out. The girls can hold their heads high. They showed some great skills and played amazing football all weekend and gave the spectators a taste of what we can look forward to this season and gave us a chance to see how strong our opposition teams are going to be over the season – we are in for some tough games! Steve & Nic were pleased with all the girls efforts and the way they conducted themselves over the whole weekend. They are a great bunch!

We started out our weekend in Bathurst with a team dinner on Friday night.  A great chance for team bonding and great opportunity for parents to meet. We have great parents and we thank you all for your support and help over the weekend.

3/3 games played and won on Saturday (in what felt like 30 degree heat).  A rewarding day for a great effort put in by all the girls. Everyone was on a high.  We finished off the day with a casual team dinner again at the hotel accommodation… more team bonding, girls and families.

Last game in the round on Sunday saw another win. 4/4. That took us to the semi where we were unfortunately knocked out in a penalty shoot out. A hard way to lose and the best team doesn’t always come out on top.

Thank you to Emma and Amelia for helping out the team.  Thanks to coach Steve for your dedication, guidance and support over the weekend to the girls. Thanks to assistant coach Nicole as well, you are a great role model for the girls and your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Most of all, our wonderful WPL17 girls Christina, Grace, Georgia, Brodie, Emily, Jasmine, Bridget, Bella, Bec, Leanna, Matilda, Zoe and Tahlee. You are an amazing bunch of girls and we thank you for a entertaining weekend of soccer. You play as a team giving confidence to each other. We look forward to the season. Bring it on!   … Anna Manager
