SSFA AYL v Macarthur (9 April)

AYL Under 14s. Round 5 v Macarthur – Win 3 – 1

We travelled to Lynwood Park for our first official away game.

After beating Macarthur in a trial a month earlier there was confidence that we would again put on a strong performance.

Whether it was the travel or the over confidence, the boys just did not turn up in the first half. We were outplayed and out muscled by a keen Macarthur team, looking to take down the competition leaders.

Macarthur played slick football and competed for every challenge, Sutherland look tired, and we went in 1 nil down at half time.

The coaches ask for a greater effort in the 2nd half, to compete harder and go back to the type of football they had been training for.

The pleas worked and Sutherland were a different team. They competed hard in each challenge and used the ball well in attack. We started to make inroads into the Macarthur 18-yard box and within 20 minutes we had scored 3 goals to break Macarthur’s spirit.

Solid second half, but we will need to better for the full 60 minutes
