U15 AYL. Sutherland (9) v Nepean (0)
Goal scorers: Bushy, Ethan (5), Sam, Ollie, Dean
1st half . Sluggish start but we woke up creating some initial chances but ball control let us down for a few minutes. Midfield dominating creating good chances for forwards. Bushy through ball for Ben & good hassle by Ben with Bushy off post. Hayden free kick & tap in by Bushy. Good cross from Bushy & goal to Ethan. Trip on Ethan & penalty & goal to Ollie. Some good interplay & good run & a goal to Sam. Strong run from Ethan & good hassle on goalie gave him his 2nd goal. Free kick & Dean gets his 1st AYL goal. Strong defensive work restricting Nepean to few chances & no real scoring chances. 6-0 at HT.
2nd Half. Nepean playing 5 across back making chances harder to come by. Great run & shot across goal by Hudson. Good run from Dean & over post from Ethan. Straight ball for Ethan to run on for his third. Good fight by Bushy & another straight ball gave Ethan 4. Poor goal kick & another goal to Ethan.
A good performance from boys especially in 1st half where we played some great football & tore Nepean to shreds. We took our foot off in 2nd half & Nepean played much more defensive with 5 across back which made it harder to get goals.
AYL Under 14s
Round 1 v South Coast – Win 3 – 0
After a long pre-season marred by hot weather and then rain, and on the back of a successful tournament at Bathurst the opening round of the year could not come quick enough.
South Coast had proved to be tough competitors in previous years and we knew this would be a hard way to start the season.
A tough first half where South Coast pushed hard through the middle and their passing was causing us to be on the back foot. Callum’s 14th minute goal gave us confidence and we started to dominate.
Goals to Ryan in the 40th minute and Callum in the 57th ensured we kept our sheet clean and finished off strongly.
Round 3 v St George Win 5 – 0
Due to rain the game was moved to Kareela and on a Saturday night. The boys had trained well over the past weeks and although a little disjointed with the wash outs they were focussed to perform well.
We dominated early putting pressure on their back four and moving the ball wide down the flanks. Continued pressure saw us go up 1 nil within 8 minutes and then a second at the 15-minute mark. We started to control the middle of the park but got frustrated and impatient in front of goal. A third goal on half time sealed a solid first half.
Second half was similar and our goal never looked challenged as we controlled the play and pushed forward. St George became frustrated. Daniel P scored again in the 14 minuted and Kyle in the 19th to hold a 5-nil lead. The boys took their foot off the pedal and coasted through to the finish.
Round 4 v Nepean Win 5 – 0
Another Saturday night blockbuster at Kareela against one of the newer teams in the AYL.
Our structure looked good early and the boys were very patient. The ball was passed around well and Nepean had no answer for our quick movement and good ball security.
An early goal from Callum in the second minute followed up by Ollie’s 13th minute goal drove home our dominance. The back four were strong and closed down any attacking moves that Nepean had.
The second half was similar and we continued to dominate across the park. The ball was moved wide and our passing was slick. Goals to Daniel P in the 44th and 50th minute killed off any hope Nepean had a fighting back and Daniel’s hat trick was complete in the 57th minute.
A strong display against a fast and hardworking team
