The football season is here and the SSFA Development Squad has commenced. The purpose of this post is to give you an outline of the syllabus for each group that we will cover during the year. It will change from time to time as the coaches constantly assess the level the players are at, and will assess whether the weeks topic is appropriate at the time. It largely follows the FFA National curriculum, and is designed to provide the players with every opportunity to improve during the season.
Also attached a list of the Development Squad coaches and their mobile phone numbers. If you are unable to make training for any reason, please advise one of the coaches for your age group, as it is easier for them to then plan their session for each Monday night. It also means that I will not have to relay the many messages I receive.
Once again, congratulations on being selected as a member of the SSFA Development Squad for the 2011 season, and trust that you will not only beneficial to your development as footballers, but also enjoyable at the same time. I look forward to seeing you all on Monday night.

Dates for Trials have not yet been set. Trials have historically been undertaken in October (but no guarantees).
when will trail dates be set? school hols include 1st week of October so would appreciate knowing if trials will be during these dates.

Representative Trial dates are determined by FNSW, we are therefore awaiting confirmation from FNSW. As soon as dates are known they will be published. DS trials are conducted in conjunction with Rep Trials.
My son Ethan is turning 9 on Oct 16 and he is really keen to find out when the Development Squad trials are for his age group, we would appreciate any information

11.00am – 1.00pm 9’s and 10’s Girls SSFA Academy (born 2002 & 2003)

I faxed an expression of interest for my son Jad Moussa to try for 2012 under 10 Development Squad. He was in the under 9 squad this year. I have received no information about the trials for his age group on October 15 and learnt about it on the same day and could not organise to go. I hope this does not mean Jad has to miss out. I checked the Association website and could find no useful information. Are alternative dates?
It is not possible to fax an expression of interest for the 2011 SSFA run Development Squad – initial registraion was requested via the link in the relevant artcile on the website. The next U10 trial is scheduled for 3pm on Saturday 22 October at Bates Drive at Kareela – you can register at that trial (best to turn up 30 minutes early). This is the last open trial – subsequent trials are by ‘Invitation Only’. It is expected that the Academy will commence in late February 2012. The Coaching Committee will advise all participants of exact details shortly
