Onward and Upward we go, we belong and we stay ………
WPL First Grade. SSFA 2 – Bankstown 1
Even with only 10 players for the majority of the game we remained the superior team by playing positive, creative football that proved the difference in the end.
WPL Reserves. SSFA 1 – Bankstown 1
We outplayed our opponent with very nice and entertaining football but were unlucky not to score ‘so so many’ goals. Another dominant performance by the girls.
WPL17. SSFA 2 – Bankstown 0.
Our ‘fill in’ coach said the right things and got the absolute best from the girls. A fantastic well deserved result
WPL14. SSFA 1 – Bankstown 0
I just wanted to start by saying we definitely set the standard for the whole day. We went into the game and gave it our all, we did not give up and kept our heads high. Some amazing strings and one two’s and a great penalty from Tara helped us win the game but mostly the enthusiasm and intensity that each and every one of us put in till the very last second. We all focused on our team tasks and completed all of them from what I saw. There were some tough calls from the refs but not one person argued, we played the whistle and I’m very proud of you all. I’d like to say congratulations to all the girls from sutho and the first grade girls who fought for everyone in the sutho community, who played and busted their butts to win today and to have an outcome of 4 wins out of 5 games and one draw is a great achievement. PL1 is where we belong. – Brodie Steel
WPL 15 SSFA 3 vs Bankstown 1
Before the game had begun we were determined to beat Bankstown as we wanted to achieve a better result than last time we played them. As the whistle blew we knew what our team tasks were and that we had to have the right mindset if we wanted to win this game.
After many opportunities getting forward and putting together combinations we managed to get a ball in the box that was fumbled by the bankstown keeper which Jade followed up and was able to put us ahead 1-0. After a positive first half we went into the change rooms and talked about what we are doing well and what we needed to work on.
As the whistle blew for second half Bankstown came out with a new mindset wanting to win tackles but we managed to keep them in our attacking half. After a great run by Mia she earned a penalty in the box, which Hoffy lined up to take and slotted the ball in the bottom right corner, setting us up with a 2-0 lead.
Bankstown where still determined to catch up and were lucky enough to receive a penalty just outside the 18 yard box that they managed to score from, we did not let our intensity or mindset drop because of this, we became more determined to get another goal. We won almost every 50/50 putting together many one twos, Mia gave a perfect first time pass to Paris which she placed into the top of the net. Overall we had an amazing game and a well deserved win. Thanks to all the 14s who played Lucy, Tilly, Tara, Jade and Brodie. Match report by Ashley Blayney
