2022 SSFA Football Season due to commence

The SSFA football season is due to start over the next two weekends. Prepare to strap on your boots, enjoy the exercise and also the company of your team mates (and expect the smell of dencorub on any given Sunday).

The inaugural Shire Premier League (SPL) commences this coming weekend with matches scheduled for tonight (Friday 18 March) at Kareela 3 under lights – Kirrawee and Georges River Reserve Grade to kick off at 6:15pm and First Grade at 8:00pm. Further Round 1 SPL Men’s matches are scheduled for Sunday 20 March at Lilli Pilli Oval, Seymour Shaw 1 and Kareela 3, with the SPL Women’s matches all being showcased at Kareela 2 from 11:00am on Sunday.
Refer the SSFA fixtures tab (on the top line of the SSFA website) for specific details of times.

The SSFA is pleased to advise that one SPL match per week will be ‘live streamed’ and therefore available for you to enjoy remotely. SPL games can be viewed at “Shire Premier League NPL.TV” via the following link

The remainder of the SSFA Saturday (including Mini Roos) and Sunday competitions commence on Saturday 26 March and Sunday 27 March respectively. Draws will be published as soon as possible and can be accessed via the Fixtures tab on the SSFA website ( ) or via SSF.MyCompApp (that can be downloaded to your phone).
Stay in touch via the SSFA website ( ) or your respective club website ( ) as the season progresses.

Note that it is not possible to publish Round 5 and subsequent rounds as Regrading of competition teams (U12 and older) is undertaken after four (4) rounds have been played. Therefore any draws published for rounds 5 onwards are subject to alteration and would be invalid. However the theoretical draw for the season, listing who will play who in which round is provided under the Documents tab on the SSFA website ( ). Note that the inevitable washed out rounds will mean that the dates could have to be altered – as the SSFA Rules specify that the first nine (9) rounds must be played.

In respect of wet weather and the SSFA’s inability to play all matches when fields are washed out please refer to the following post on the SSFA website (which provides an explanation) –

Here’s wishing for a full and enjoyable season in 2022.
