$3 million in upgrades committed to Sutherland Shire football facilities

The Morrison government has promised $3 million to upgrade sporting facilities at Harrie Dening Football Centre and Prince Edward Park if re-elected on Saturday.

Liberal candidate for Hughes, Jenny Ware, said “Harrie Dening Football Centre at Kareela would receive $1.5 million to upgrade playing fields with a hybrid surface, irrigation and draining, and amenity improvements, including referee change rooms and a first aid room”.

Football NSW CEO, Stuart Hodge commented, “this is a fantastic announcement for Sutherland Shire Football Association and it’s home of football.”
“The upgrade to Harrie Dening Football Centre will put the venue in the driver’s seat to attract a FIFA Women’s World Cup team to use the venue as a training base throughout the tournament”.

Sutherland Shire FA CEO, Jeff Stewart stated, “Sutherland is the second largest football association in NSW, 1 in 11 residents of the Sutherland Shire are registered football participants.”
“The funding proposed for the Harrie Dening Centre will transform this venue and most importantly leave a lasting legacy for the largest participated sport in the Sutherland Shire”.

The project will ensure that Harrie Dening Football Centre will be a female friendly venue, safe, accessible, and fit for purpose for the entire football community.
Football NSW and Sutherland Shire FA thanks the Morrison government and Jenny Ware for recognising the need to upgrade football infrastructure in the Sutherland Shire. This upgrade will help uncover our next Matilda’s.
