U14 Metro Far South – Report

During the first week of the school holidays the under 14 state titles were held at Valentine Park Parklea. Our region was represented by the Metro Far South squad with players from the Illawarra and Sutherland Shire coached by Neil Mineeff and assisted by Scott Regent. Players were from a variety of clubs including the Wollongong Wolves, Sutherland sharks, Apia and St George. This was a physically demanding week playing 8 games in 5 days with the rotation of players being an important factor to the positive result.

Over the course of the week the boys displayed a great attitude and produced a very good standard of possession based football leading to them being runners up in the tournament. This was a great result considering there were two changes in the squad late due to injury. To the boys credit our strong focus on playing football in a structured manner was rewarded with positive results and recognition of their performance.

It was a pleasure to coach this squad and wish all of the players the best in their future football endeavours……..Neil Mineeff
