This year the Far South Under 13 Team competed at Yerrinbool. This tournament was tough from start to finish. Although we lost the first 4 games I was proud of the way the boys continued to battle and the way they handled themselves overcoming this setback. When you consider we had a bad run of injuries from the start resulting in us having only one sub plus several players carrying niggling injuries than you realise the magnitude of their effort and commitment to one another and the team.
We had created enough chances to win these games but did not take them when presented. We probably deserved more from this tournament with the type of football played but we have to learn that you have to take games at this level, no one is going to give you a win unless you take it when it is there for the taking. Players played in positions that they had not had a chance to play for a while and they all enjoyed this freedom. The enjoyment showed in their football with great team shape, better ball movement and creative plays that pleased all who witnessed them.
As coach of this team all I can say is that I enjoyed every minute of football the boys played and that I am proud of every player. Well done boys you gave me, your parents and the rest of the crowd at Yerrinbool 100% all week and your football was good to watch. The boys are a credit to their families, Associations and current teams that they play for, good luck for the rest of the season hope to see you around the grounds during the year.

PS: Boys you made this an enjoyable tournament to watch and coach.
