The U12 Metro Far South Team, comprising boys from Sutherland and Wollongong, travelled to Griffith last week to compete in the State Titles. They played 8 games in 5 days against the best U12 boys in NSW and came away undefeated to claim the State Champions title for 2015.
All the boys from the goalkeepers right through to the strikers played their part. It was a magnificent team effort which was shown on the score board with 9 different goal scorers in the 8 games. This was a great result for coach Stefan Janic who did a magnificent job in getting the boys to play an exciting brand of football which was admired by all at the ground. From game 1 on Monday the boys got better and better to record 6 wins and 2 draws. The second last match on Thursday afternoon became like a grand final against the other undefeated side, Metro North and our boys played the game of the tournament to record a 3-2 victory. Overall the boys scored 25 goals and had 7 against to dominate a very strong competition.
Everyone involved had a great time both on and off the field and I would like to thank the parents for being supportive of the boys and a big thank you to Stefan for his encouragement and coaching of the team.
