SSFA Women’s Premier League in the FINALS – Sunday 4 October at Harrie Dening Centre

We’ve had 11 rounds of furious National Premier Leagues 2 NSW Womens action which has left both of the SSFA’s senior teams vying for the 2020 Championship of the prestigious FNSW Women’s elite competition.

Sunday afternoon, at Harrie Dening Centre Kareela, is a double feature of fantastic semi-final action to help determine the Grand Final in both the WPL First and Reserve Grades. Come and support our local home grown talent as the ‘best play the best’.

WPL Reserve Grade Semi-Final: Sutherland Shire FA vs Marconi Stallions, Sunday 4 October, 12:30pm, Harrie Dening Centre
The high flying SSFA Reserve Grade have been undefeated all year and hope to carry this momentum into the Finals. A superb team of local home grown players, coached by the ever present Mark Greenfield, are hoping to continue their winning streak and dominate Marconi – who kept us to a 1 all draw when we last met.

WPL First Grade Semi-Final 1: Sutherland Shire FA vs Marconi Stallions, Sunday 4 October, 2:30pm, Harrie Dening Centre
SSFA First Grade look to press their claims for a Grand Final spot against Marconi Stallions at Harrie Denning Centre at 2:30pm Sunday afternoon.
Perennial contenders Sutherland Shire FA earnt the right to host this final with our strong performance in the National Premier Leagues 2 NSW Womens regular season. Our only loss came against North Shore Mariners (and their bevy of W-League players) in a very close wild five goal contest (that we could have won) – but now we are hunting for a berth in the Grand Final.
Last time we played, Marconi held us to a pulsating 1-1 draw back in Round 6 at Marconi Stadium. But hopefully we can maximise our home ground advantage this weekend as we seek another crack at Premiers North Shore Mariners in the grand final.
SSFA First Grade has built their success around the core of talented local players they have retained each season – Morgan Maxwell, Gen Nisbet, Britt Christie, Kate Dale, Nicole Besz & Maddie Farmer – under the guardianship of Allen Edmondson and (ex Socceroo) John O’Shea in 2020. Headlining our attack is talismanic striker Jordan Baker, whose partnership with the returning Stevie Donougher has given us an added dimension. The strength of the SSFA’s attack though has been the service from our midfield and the solidity of our defenders and goal keeping supremo Chloe Avgoustou.

Two attacking sides will make for an entertaining game of football that should not be missed.
