Wet Weather
Our grounds in the Sutherland Shire can be affected by wet weather, particularly throughout the winter season. When this occurs, SSFA works closely with clubs to assess field availability, relocate fixtures where possible and minimise disruptions across the competition.
With over 630 games scheduled on Saturdays and 170 games scheduled on Sundays, wet weather management is a large-scale process coordinated in real time with our 26 clubs.
SSFA aims to publish wet weather changes by 7:00am on both Saturdays and Sundays, with updates released as soon as the process is complete.
Where to Check Wet Weather Updates
When wet weather changes occur, a Wet Weather Changes Document will be published via our Linktree.
This link can be accessed:
via the links in our Instagram and Facebook bios
through the Additional Links section within MyCompApp
through links included in SSFA social media posts
via the link below
Please note that the Wet Weather Changes link will only appear in Linktree when wet weather changes are in place.
While MyCompApp fixtures will also be updated and notifications issued, teams should always check both the Wet Weather Changes Document and MyCompApp prior to attending their fixture.
Any changes made after 7:00am will be communicated directly to affected clubs for distribution to teams.
Wet Weather Alternative Plan J
From Round 5 onwards, SSFA may implement Wet Weather Alternative Plan J where there are insufficient playable fields for a full competition round to proceed.
Plan J is designed to maximise the amount of football played by prioritising selected competition matches on available grounds, rather than postponing the entire round.
Where Plan J is activated:
some grades may proceed while others are postponed
match venues may change on the morning of the round
MiniRoos fixtures may be impacted depending on field availability
teams should monitor all SSFA communication channels closely
The full Wet Weather Alternative Plan J Procedures & Logistics document can be accessed below.
Important Reminder
Wet weather decisions are made with player safety and field preservation as the priority.
Teams should not rely solely on MyCompApp during wet weather events and must check all official SSFA communications before travelling to fixtures.
