SSFA W14 MATCH REPORT

SSFA WPL vs Camden Tigers 14s

What a chaotic game by the girls! At the whistle, SSFA kicked off, and the opening 15minutes saw us create lots of chances and shots before Grace was tripped in the box. This resulted in a penalty kick. Sadly the keeper produced a solid save. A few moments later Evie received the ball inside the box and took a shot, it hit the bar bottom post, but as the keeper reached out to grab it Skye quickly reacted and blasted the ball into the top left corner. Props to both girls! 1-0 SSFA.

The next 10minutes seemed to pass quickly, with some more good pressing and crosses. Suddenly a switch in play occurred. Camden sprinted into our defensive half and took on some players. They approached our box and got tripped. Another penalty. We were not too impressed with the decision. Zara held her ground but it was a solid strike unfortunately landing in the back of the net, 1-1. After a shock to the system, SSFA trudged off the pitch at half time, we knew we could play better, we were the better team.

The second half began, with substitutes for Grace and Skye. Evie was unavailable for the second half, so Miricah and Abby then come on in the midfield. SSFA were laying back a bit more, we needed to start pressing. Our defenders were under pressure, with Taylor and Lulu taking opportunities to make forward runs whenever they could make some strong runs to bring the ball up the field. Skye then came on for Cobie at left forward. Miricah then came blasting through the field, just as she was approaching the box, she got tripped! A 3rd penalty was awarded. Miricah took a deep breath, and struck the ball, unfortunately it sailed over the goal, unlucky!

Just as we thought we had lost our fighting spirit, a quick pass from Ocean straight to the feet of Tiana, and a quick volley landed right in the back of the net! 2-1 SSFA. SSFA were doing a lot better, we were pressing and passing well, Abby then received the ball, cut it back and struck the ball into the goal! 3-1 SSFA. This was quite a turnaround for us, we needed this win. Just when everyone thought that was game, after quick cross into the box, Ocean brought it down and placed the ball perfectly, right past the stunned keeper. 4-1 to SSFA at full time. Well done girls!
