MiniRoos Coaching Courses

MiniRoos is aimed at volunteer parents and coaches working with novice players or players aged approximately up to ten (10) years old. The session is entirely practical and encourages the coach to create games based on enjoyment. The focus is on learning by playing football. The secret to encouraging players to develop a love for the game without coaching is to organise enjoyable football activities. The coaches’ exposure to fundamental game rules and guidance on creating an enjoyable and safe football environment




Foundations of Football

The Foundation of Football is aimed at volunteer parents and coaches working with advanced beginner to competent level players or players aged up to approximately fifteen (15) years old. This course is a prerequisite for the Football Australia/AFC C Diploma. Coaches will participate in practical sessions covering the basics of techniques as well as learning about basic playing principles of the game. The course is mostly practical and not graded, allowing the student to participate in the training sessions if they so choose. The course also promotes participating in group discussions with the goal of exchanging experiences

AFC C Diploma

The Football Australia/AFC C Diploma is aimed at coaches working with advanced beginner to competent level players or players aged approximately twelve (12) years of age and above. The course is designed to provide a logical connection to the Foundation of Football Certificate covering in greater detail:
1. The technical aspects of the game, including teaching the basics of passing, receiving, and dribbling with the ball, as well as defending strategies.
2. The principles of coaching and comprehension of the principles of play; and
3. The concept of teaching behaviour using various sorts of practise methods.

 As part of SSFA’s ongoing support for local coaches, we are hosting a FNSW CPD (continued professional development) event at Harrie Dening, on Friday, the 7th of June 6:30pm – 8:00pm.

 This presents a wonderful opportunity to support your players and your club by staying informed with the latest information and insights. Attending this event will contribute towards one hour of CPD learning. We highly encourage all coaches from various phases, age groups, and stages to participate and enhance their skills.

 From the novice coach, to the experienced coach, everyone will gain valuable learnings from the event.

 The focus for the evening will be on Intervention Methods

Coaching Scholarship Nonimations

Your club nominates coaches to come and work with our renowned Monday night SSFA Academy Coaches (young or old) who want to take their coaching to another level by working with our SSFA Academy coaches. The commitment is, as much time as they have and operates on Monday’s only.

SPLM and SPLW Coach Mentoring

Local coaches will have the opportunity to learn about the planning and delivery of our training sessions. Additionally, we will take coaches through our video analysis camera, VEO – highlighting best practice using it.

Female Coaches Mentoring

Special guest coaches will take you through different ideas and ways they can support you through the season

Sydney FC partnering with SSFA and Sutherland Strikers, have created an exclusive opportunity A-Leagues Training Session Viewing, Tour of Sky Park, Coach Education Presentation – followed up by warm-up observation. .
