2022 FNSW STATE AWARD WINNER – MR RUSSELL MARSDEN

At the FNSW State Dinner last Saturday night, Russell Marsden received a Football NSW 2022 State Award for his services to football in the Sutherland Shire.

Russell’s contribution to football commenced in 1965 when he joined the NSW Churches Football Association as a player and referee, before joining his ‘Life Member Club’ Bangor Football Club, in 1990.

Russell has been involved with football as a Coach, Player, Referees Coordinator, and Committee member for over 57 years.

At Bangor FC Russell has held the following positions:
1990 – Current Coach
2005 – 2008 Referees Co-ordinator
2009 – 2012 President
2013 – Awarded Life Member

Russell was then elected as Execuitve Member of the Association in 2014 and since held numerous positions including Judiciary Committee Chairmen; Rule Changes Co-ordinator, and Grading Committee Chair.

Russell is known among his peers as the “walking rule book” because of his ability to refer to the correct rule when questioned.

And in his spare time, Russell has served as a registered Referee with SSFRA since 2008.

Congratulations Russell Marsden
