Round 3 AYL15 SSFA vs Manly @ Harrie Denning Centre 11.25am 11th March 2023
It was a stunning day at Harrie Denning Centre for the round 3 home game for SSFA AYL15’s vs Manly Warringah Football Club.
The match started with Manly putting in a through ball passed our defence and crossed back in to score in the 2nd minute.
The tenacity of SSFA to pull it back was rewarded with a penalty in the 6th minute against Lachlan who was fortunate to put it past Manly’s keeper and draw the scores level again at 1-1. The scored remained even to end the first half.
The second half saw both sides have some good opportunities and this is where Lucas our goal keeper shined, saving some beautiful opportunities to really support the boys during the hot day. Then in the 65th minute, Ethan made a another dashing run down left wing and offloaded the ball to Lachlan who was waiting in the centre of the box and stepping sideways onto his right foot, smashed the ball into the back of the net.
The last 5 minutes of the game was very exciting to watch and after strong pressure from Manly, were able to snare a goal back through a header over the keeper’s head to even the scores. The final score was a 2-2 draw which was very thrilling to watch. Jono the SSFA coach was extremely impressed how the boys played and never gave up in the blaring sun at Kareela.
