SSFA MATCH REPORT – 13 GSAP

Match report – Ivy Davidson

Today’s game we played against Bankstown at their home ground. Spectators were grateful for the undercover grandstand seating, protecting them from the rain. The weather was freezing, and the rain made the ball skid across the synthetic pitch, it was crucial that we try not to let the ball bounce as it made harder to play in these weather conditions.

10 minutes into second half we scored the first goal. A beautiful corner from Sammy was put into the back of the net thanks to a cracking strike from Jess. The next goal was by Bankstown who scored off a free kick in front of the goal bottom right corner.

We defended well in the first half and held the other team off as best as possible, they had some chances towards the end of first half but defense held them out. Overall, an evenly matched first half.

At half time David talked to us about the need to be careful with the bounce of the ball, he also told as that the opposition is a kick and chase team so we need to be getting in front and blocking their options off. We had a few opportunities in the 2nd half but unfortunately their defence was good, and we couldn’t seem to find the net. We had a scoreless 2nd half, leaving the final score at 1-1. All our girls played really well and we were all grateful to put our jackets on at the end of the game.
