Round 3 SSFA AYL 13 SSFA v Manly
3 games and 3 wins for the team – with a great 3-1 win against a very tough Manly team today in very hot conditions again.
Manly came out strong in the first 10-15mins mins and we had to defend hard as a team to stop them from scoring.
We got a break early with Bobby netting our first goal in the 3 min mark.
Manly kept coming at us for the first half but we kept our composure and held them out.
A great free kick hit low and hard by Jesper had us 2-0 up just before the break.
The second half Manly came at us again and pinched a goal early. This lifted them and the pressure for the boys was intense but we held them back and continued to play the ball through the field.
The entire crowd watching thought Manly had scored a second after their forward smashed the ball at the goals. But our keep Charlie pulled of the save of the season and gathered the ball quickly to him to keep us at 2-1 up. Was truly a game saving stop from Charlie!
That pushed our boys into gear and not long after Bobby broke away and after an initial good save from the Manly keeper Bobby was able to tap in on the rebound to make it 3-1 and another gutsy win for the SSFA 13 boys.
