SSFA GSAP13 Proctor Cup

Game 1 v Kissing Point FC / Turramurra United

With 9 new faces in the team this year our first game of the tournament couldn’t have gone any better. All the girls came together as a team, and we played well. The team created a lot of good chances in the first half which unfortunately didn’t go in, but a lot of good signs for the next half.

After an inspirational half time talk from coach Steve, the girls came out firing. The midfielders worked hard and continued to feed the forward’s great ball. Jazzy and Belle, the two fastest wingers you have ever seen kept creating chances and finally the goals started to come. Shout-out to our goal scorers Belle, Jazzy, Sammy, and Zoe who all scored cracking goals.

Our defence stayed strong all game, and our Number 1 goalkeeper Izzy kept a clean sheet, the first of many for the tournament.

Full-Time Result: SSFA Win 4-0.

Game 2 vs Bankstown City FC

Overall, it was a tough game, but we managed to take it home, the score ended up 1-0 with Sammy scoring. All the girls did really good, and all worked together. Izzy saved some good shots and even though they were feisty we gave it back and defended and attacked well.

Game 3 vs Bathurst FA

For our first game on Sunday, we faced a strong Bathurst team. We were feeling confident after our wins on Saturday and opened the scoring with a great goal from Belle.
The whole team worked together well, and our backs were super strong, and we made it hard for Bathurst to get a shot on goal. Jazzy and I each scored a goal and Izzy kept another clean sheet, so we finished with a 3-0 win.

Game 4 vs Blacktown City FC

Wow! Where do we start with the match against Blacktown! A very tough and physical game which resulted in lots of fouls towards us. We defended brilliantly and played with grit determination. Our only loss of the tournament. We learnt a lot from the game. Well done girls.

Qualifying Final vs APIA Leichhardt

The SSFA girls put in 100 percent all day long, we bonded as a team and will have memories that will stay with us forever. It was at 1:10pm that we really hit the afterburners – versing Apia (U13’s) it was a tough game, and all our girls did their absolute best. It was around the 12th minute of the first half that SSFA got the early lead with a penalty kick that went in top bins. In the second half there was a little bump/clash and Apia got a free kick just outside the 18-yard box, and it was one hell of a kick that made it one all. Apia knew that all they needed to go through was a draw and they celebrated like they won. With seven minutes to go SSFA was on the hunt for another goal. With the minutes counting down, one of the players from Apia got injured badly, time became our enemy, and we got knocked out of the comp. The SSFA girls can hold their heads up high as we knew that we gave it everything. The girls should be so proud of what they achieved, other teams take months to gel, we did it in one crazy, fun, hot weekend. Bring on Proctor Cup 2024.
